This is an easy way to build a simple grow light system for starting seeds indoors. The system uses a large Sterilite tub, some all thread, a few nuts and fender washers and some plywood to reinforce the lid.

The system is very easy to build and to adjust the height of the light with. It is important to use full UV spectrum lights with a system like this. I used 9 dollar lights you can get at Walmart and while not the best they have done quite satisfactory with growing my seedlings.

I planted these Bell Peppers from seed on July 9th, 2009. I took this video on November 15th 2009. I started to get peppers at the end of September. I currently have about 15 peppers on the plants. The more I pollinate, the more peppers I get. It’s really a pepper machine!

I’m using a mix of two 300 Watt, 2700k bulbs and two 200 Watt 6700k bulbs. I had 4 200 Watt 6700k bulbs at the start until flowers appeared. I had a few unused fluorescent bulbs that I added above them for a little extra kick.
